Robot Takeover (Pratik - non core post #4)

I wanted to share a few things discussed related to our class this last Thursday. Max shared that there was a situation where a delivery robot encroached on a  cautiom taped-off area by LAPD. Here's the video.

This video was tweeted by @FilmThePoliceLA who is an individual who uses Twitter to visually document the LAPD as a form of informal oversight. With the ambiguity of space, privatization of public spaces, and polciing of borders, what role will these autonomous robotic machines play?

Additionally, in relation to the Echo talked about in Kate Crawford's Anatomy of AI essay, one of the points our group talked about was Amazon's goal to extract data not only from the Echo but through other ventures/sectors within their company. Amazon's recent aquisiton of Roomba, the robotic vacuum, allows for whole nother dimension of data from within our houses. I wanted to share a picture I saw a few weeks ago at the Whole Foods in DTLA, where you can now pay with your palm (biometric data). Dystopian to say the least.
