Tesla AI Day 2022 [Tania, non-core post #2]

My apologies for sharing this video and thus leading you to potentially see more of Elon Musk's face, but--

The company recently had its annual AI day, meant to showcase its forays into developing "autonomy at scale." Unveiled in the demo was the Tesla bot, a "humanoid robot capable of performing tasks that are unsafe, repetitive or boring." Particularly interesting is the definition of "economy" that Musk offers ~25:35: "productivity per capita. At the point at which there is no limitation on capita, it's not clear what an economy even means at that point. It becomes quasi-infinite...this means a future of abundance. A future where there is no poverty. You can have whatever you want in terms of products and services."

There you have it. Economics ala Musk. A vision of AI-enabled labor replacement that magically makes workers rich instead of unemployed. "The economy" and AI as imagined by someone without regard for the social substrate in which each is embedded.
