Border Cams - Tania

Juan De Lara's essay packed a punch...not least because while it purports to study only two specific border technologies, it gestures to a whole sprawling range of others throughout. His passing reference to Camilla Fojas' Border Optics (via her concept of "borderveillant media) snagged me. In place of formed thoughts, here are some live border cams compiled by Border Report, a news outlet devoted to the US-Mexico border.

No longer linked to the explicit surveillance functions such cameras once had (De Lara, 158), it's unclear to me what work these public-facing border cams are supposed to now do.
